The Human Science Research-Domain advances human science researches to find ways of enhancing comfort and health, leading to happiness of people.
We make deep investigation on functions of human brain and sense and then develop human models containing sensory organs and neural circuit model of thinking process. These efforts may realize a world where people live together with realistic human-like robots, seen in science fiction films.
Our research can contribute to development of active safety technology as well as development of technologies in a wide range of industrial fields connecting life of people, such as technology for coming aging society. We do research on automotive engineering technology as well as technologies for healthy, safe and comfortable life of people.

Smell-Based Analysis and Control

We have constructed a technique that can measure the response to various smells by stimulating the growth of olfactory receptors in cultured cells using transgenetic technology. By combining these olfactory receptors, we are aiming to predict how people recognize smells.
