The study on “Visualization of Estimated Prevalence of CES-D Positive That Considers Background Factors and AIS Score” by Takashi Matsuyama et al., in collaboration with Tohoku University and Iwate Medical University, was published in Scientific Reports.
It is well known that a positive predictive value (PPV: the probability of detecting a disease) of a test changes depending on background factors such as sex, age, and lifestyle. In this paper, based on health information big data, a method to visualize changes in cutoff values due to different background factors was proposed. It presented the possibility of changing the cutoff values for depression based on the degree of insomnia according to background factors. The current result is anticipated to contribute toward efficient operation of health checkups. The current study used the results from a community-based cohort study conducted by the Tohoku Medical Megabank Project.
